The Opening Ceremony of the First Books Culture Festival of GMU was Held in Huangjin Campus.

      In order to implement the 18th CPC National Congress spirit, practice the philosophy of schooling “Building School by Teaching, Developing School by Research, Powering School by Talents, Shaping School by Culture”, further intensify the capacities of humanities and innovation of faculty, make the campus life flourishing and develop a positive, elegant and healthy campus circumstances, the opening ceremony of the First Books Culture Festival of GMU was held in front of the library gate on May 29. This opening ceremony was hosted by the Party Secretary Fan Qinghua and attended by Vice President Zeng Xiangyun, Liu Qian, directors from the Division of Students’ Affairs and the Youth League Committee, faculty of the library and around 200 students.

     On behalf of the library, chief librarian Tan Zongmei delivered an opening speech. Vice President Liu Qian extended a congratulatory speech, saying “The Books Culture Festivalis very significant with the purpose to advocate the reading of books so as to develop a fine atmosphere and boost the faculty’s cultural accomplishment, scientific and technological levels and life-long learning capacities”. Vice President Liu Qian raised an example of Karl Marx to encourage the faculty to read more books. At length, he wished the Books Culture Festival a complete success. Deputy Chief Librarian Wu Xiaoming read the Initial Written Proposal. Vice President Zeng Xiangyun declared the First Books Culture Festival open.


 

      After the opening ceremony, leaders awarded the prizes and certificates to the students and classes from the Association of Reading Books in 2012.

      The First Books Culture Festival, under the theme of “Reading Books across the School & Fine Books for All One’s Life”, was hosted by the library and undertaken by the Association of Reading Books, together with the assistance from the Department of Propaganda, Division of Students’ Affairs’ and Youth League Committee. 
      The First Books Culture Festival will carry out a series of cultural activities covering knowledge contest, calligraphy exhibition with the aim of developing a fine atmosphere for reading and enrich the campus cultural life.
