Professor Xi Huanjiu from Liaoning Medical University Delivered a Lecture in GMU

      On the October 23, Professor Xi Huanjiu, the former President of Liaoning Medical University, the director of Anthropology Institute and the doctoral supervisor, delivered a lecture in GMU. GMU Party Secretary Huang Linbang and GMU President Han Limin met Professor Xi Huanjiu and extended a warm welcome to him.
      At 14:00, Professor Xi Huanjiu delivered the lecture “The Development of Biomedicine Anthropology”, which was hosted by Vice-President Liu Qian and attended by Huang Linbang and more than 300 students. Of the lecture, Professor Xi Huanjiu mainly introduced the origin and classification of anthropology and the biomedicine anthropology characteristics, elaborated the differences of various ethnics, regions, habits and cultures to the impact of human health, promoted the Complementary and Alternative Medicine being under appreciation in the medicine circle. During the interaction link, Huang Linbang had a discussion on the feasibility and importance of incorporating Complementary and Alternative Medicine into GMU medical majors’ cultivation.
      Professor Xi Huanjiu, the former President of Liaoning Medical University, the director of Anthropology Institute and the doctoral supervisor, enjoyed the title “Excellent Overseas Returnees with Outstand Contributions” awarded by the State Personnel Board and State Education Commission in 1991, enjoyed the special government allowance in 1992, gained the title of “National Excellent Science & Technology Worker” in 2004, enjoyed the title of “Excellent Expert of Liaoning Province” in 2006, gained the title of “Science & Technology Progress Special Contribution Award of Jinzhou” and was recommended as one ofacademician candidates. Professor Xi Huanjiu published 90 academic papers, one of which was related to bone age and published in The American Journal of Physiology Anthropology. He published 10 monographs and Medical Anthropology is the first monograph concerning anthropology from the perspective of medicine. Besides, he undertook provincial and national natural science fund projects.
